QOLT – a research-based path to increased quality of life

Discover the power of Quality of Life Therapy (QOLT)

Quality of Life Therapy (QOLT) is an evidence-based method aimed at strengthening your overall well-being and life satisfaction. The method was developed by Dr. Michael B. Frisch and combines principles from positive psychology, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and coaching to help you create a more meaningful and balanced life. We also integrate motivational interviewing (MI) as a method, which ensures a supportive and empowering experience that promotes motivation and sustainable change.

QOLT is also enriched by insights from cognitive neuroscience and the VIA Character Strengths framework. The deep understanding of how the brain functions, combined with a focus on personal strengths, makes our approach uniquely effective for strengthening resilience, well-being, and performance.

QOLT assumes that happiness and life satisfaction can be developed by working both with external life circumstances and with how you perceive and interpret them.

Through structured exercises and personalized strategies, you will receive support in identifying your strengths, managing obstacles, and shaping a life that aligns with your values and goals. Through a holistic perspective on well-being, QOLT helps you make positive changes and strengthen your quality of life.

The method was developed by Dr. Michael B. Frisch and combines positive psychology, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and coaching to provide you with practical tools that strengthen resilience, emotional balance, and personal development.

QOLT focuses on increasing happiness and well-being in 16 life areas, so-called “Quality of Life Domains,” such as relationships, work/career, health, and personal development. The goal is to find the areas where changes can have the greatest impact on your life satisfaction and give you the tools to make meaningful changes.

By focusing on both external life circumstances and how you interpret them, QOLT helps you create a more sustainable and meaningful quality of life.

In practice, QOLT includes a range of different exercises aimed at strengthening well-being and personal development within one or more areas of life.

This can, for example, involve practical exercises, strength assessments, mindfulness exercises, and goal-setting work for various areas of life. By focusing on one or more areas of life, QOLT encourages the creation of both internal and external change and the creation of a more meaningful and purposeful life.

How does QOLT work in practice?

QOLT begins by measuring your well-being in various areas of life using tools such as the QOLI (Quality of Life Inventory)

The process begins with an in-depth mapping of how satisfied you are in each of the 16 areas of life. Together, we explore your strengths, identify development opportunities, and formulate concrete steps to improve your quality of life. Through reflection, structured exercises, and personal support, QOLT helps you ensure your everyday life reflects your values and priorities.

Sustainable growth by measuring your well-being before, during, and after the coaching period to ensure desired results.

We primarily use measurement tools like QOLI but supplement them with PANAS, SWLS, PPTI, and VIA to map your well-being, track your progress, and clarify which areas are most important to work on. You fill them out before the first session, after a few sessions, and at the conclusion, so that we can together see the results of what we have done more concretely.

Who can benefit from QOLT?

QOLT is for you who want to live more consciously, strengthen your emotional well-being, and create a more satisfying life in all or any specific area of life. Whether you want to get through a challenging period or simply raise your level of well-being, QOLT provides a clear map for how you can reach your goals.

Why choose QOLT?

Whether QOLT is used in individual therapy, coaching, or in groups, the method offers a clear and comprehensive framework for personal development and change, focusing on various areas of life. This makes QOLT a valuable tool for anyone wanting to increase their life satisfaction and well-being. It has been shown that when you improve the quality of life in one area, it usually leads to a higher quality of life in all areas.

Security and professional frameworks

To ensure you feel completely secure, it is important to clarify what coaching is and what it is not. Coaching is a forward-looking method for personal development and not a form of therapy. We do not make diagnoses, provide medical advice, or keep medical records. In cases of deep trauma or severe mental health issues, it is important to turn to professional healthcare, as coaching does not replace medical treatment.

We work on a secure, ethical foundation with full confidentiality for your privacy. In some cases, we collaborate with healthcare services on behalf of doctors or psychologists; here, we act as a supportive complement rather than a replacement for medical care. Everything we do is based on scientific methods to strengthen your inner resources in a sustainable way.
